The Shadowman

In the first house we moved into in North Yorkshire was the first time I really remember seeing any ghosts for the first time. The house number (some might think ironically) was number 13, and on the other side of the wall in the back garden was the local Chapel of Rest. I don't know whether the COR had anything to do with the ghosts or not, I don't know.

My first bedroom was above the kitchen at the back of my house, and next to the bathroom... my 2 brothers shared a room next to my folks bedroom. My bedroom was small, but at the foot of my bed was a toybox, and on a number of occasions, I'd see a shadow stood IN the toybox and up the wall. it never seemed to do anything else most of the time, but it wasn't there every night. I came to refer to him as 'the shadowman'

One day our dad was giving me and my brothers a bath (we were still young enough for all 3 of us to fit in) and he saw a shadow go past the opaque bathroom window. He assumed it was my mother going to the airing cupboard. But when he questioned her she'd not been upstairs at all.

Because my brothers bedroom was a mess, my parents turned the spare room in the attic into a bedroom (it was a guest room) and my younger brother had the attic room. But after a few months, me and him swapped bedrooms. And he started seeing a shadow at the foot of the bed in my old room.

I on the other hand continued to see the shadow stood by my chest of drawers across the other side of the room. There was nothing to cast the shadow, and it was taller than the chest of drawers (the shadow was about 6 foot or there abouts) But there was a door to another attic room which we used for storage, and the door was always cold, and was scared of the door for no real reason. The fact that it was an attic had nothing to do with it because I'd have never swapped rooms if it bothered me. But that one door in the whole house REALLY creeped me out.

Sometimes I'd have what seemed like nightmares. In my nightmares I'd see people I knew who weren't who they seemed. They emanated a cold sense of dread similar to the attic door. And whenever it got too close to me, I recognized what it was and I would wake up. And every time I awoke I'd be parylized, unable to shout my parents, unable to move at all. And I'd be ice cold. After about 5 minuted, I'd eventually be able to move again, and I'd turn on my light an not be able to sleep for the rest of the night. But since living in that house, I see 'IT' in my dreams and suffer the same paralysis from time to time.

On our last night in the house, I was packing all my things into boxes in my bedroom, and I had the overhead light on. And all of a suddenly I felt really cold and then my bedside lamp came on by itself. I ran downstairs and told my parents and spent the night in my younger brothers room.

I'm not sure how many entities were in that house, but there were at least 2. The shadowman and a ghost cat, which my mum saw on numerous occasions. My father also used to get tapped on the shoulder by something he couldn't see, as ever time he turned around there was no one there. Weather or not the thing that interferes with my dreams is the shadowman or a different entity, I don't know. But I'd like to know what the entity is that interferes with my dreams. Even if I can't get rid of it, I'd at least like to understand what it is.

We will try to explain as humanly possible but note that these are just theories.

The cold spots in the house is some sort of a leak to the other plane of existence, every haunted houses has one. These could have been either brought by accumulated residual energies (energies left by deceased people) or by other astral entities. For an astral entity, this could be used as a gateway to our world.

The nightmares you had experienced may have been brought by such unseen energies (note that spirits also emanate energies, in fact, they are the energies.) When you sleep, there's a tendency for you to undergo what psychics call lucid dreaming, in which, your other body (astral body) separates from your physical body, and depending on how strong your psychic anchor (silver cord) is, you may or may not get dragged into the other world. Getting dragged into the other world is like getting "invited", but we bet that if they were malevolent spirits and that your silver cord is weak, you could have been already possessed.

To shield your self from such energies, you need to be strong.. when we say 'to be strong', we mean that you should have faith. Better yet, chant a prayer, and believe that they can't touch you.

You cannot get rid of them but you can avoid or negate their energies base on how strong your faith is. And by the way, your fear is what makes you even more vulnerable so you should learn how to control it.

If you have anymore questions, please feel free to post your comment.

Well I always figured cold spots ostly tended to happen when an entity was using the available energy nearest to it (usually heat) to manifest in some way, wither visibly or audiably.

I wouldn't have said in the nightmares I had that I had left my body. In some dreams I have and upon waking it's almost asthough I've just fallen into my bed from above it. When 'IT' interferes with my freams, it's a normal dream until I see 'IT'. It takes on the guise of people I know, but it's not them, and it's instantly recognisable by its cold aura. 'IT' seems to be coming into my dreams rather than my astral self going into it's world.

And when you say I could have been posessed, do you mean temporarily? How would I know?

Anonymous said...

No, we didn't that you were but rather you could have been if the two conditions were met. - The spirits were malevolent or opportunistic, and if you have a weak "silver cord".

Demonic possession happens when your soul wanders away from your physical body, and that your soul's attachment to your physical body is weak. An invader may take over if the host is defenseless.

Unfortunately, there's no way you would know if you were possess. But one probable sign we could count is that you begin to think differently as if someone's telling you, to some, they may solicit dual personalities.

In science, this is not a valid entry as they would credit it to mental illness. But for a mentally healthy person to suddenly shift into this behavior without having a stressor, this is surely odd and is a mystery even to science.

I've always thought that the physical world is influence by the other world.

Demonic Possession is an astral-related term while Mental Illness is science-related. Both terms serve one meaning but both have different explanations, that is, since one is an explanation using worldly phenomena and the other uses unworldly or spiritual, which is metaphysical.

The two connects in some way though there is no concrete explanation to support it.

Well I've definately not been posessed as far as I remember My mental state has never really changed. But I'd like to know what the entity is that interferes with my dreams, and why. I don't remember it having made any audiable contact in my dreams, it was always silent. And I've moved from number 13 since, and in 4 different places I've felt it's presence. At a friends house in the same villiage (which has numerous sightings of entities) I awoke, parylised (as normal) but this one time I had the sensation of hearing screaming something about a fire, and me head started to pound as though someone was squeezing it. Then the pressure lifted and I was able to move again.

The most recent time I had it happen was a few months after that in about august/september last year. And I awoke, my partner was in the next room, and I tried calling to him, but I couldn't make a sound, or move at all. I was trying furiously to kick my legs even the slightest, but couldn't. And I felt an ice cold next to me, then after a few minutes the cold presence left and I was able to move my legs and turn on the bedside lamp.

I've looked into 'sleep paralysis'. And that's what my partner thinks it is. But each time I see 'IT' in my dream and I wake up and I can feel it's presence over me. Not physically on top of me, but just over or beside me. I don't fear it's presence. Any time I've seen an entity, or felt it's presence, I've never been afraid. I've been apprehensive, but not afraid. But the fear and sense of cold dread eminates from the entity itsef.

Anonymous said...

Sleep paralysis may have many possible causes and one of them is lucid dreaming, which is now a scientifically proven fact.

And you know some people may not believe this concept but sometimes astral entities may have something to do with it, although some may say that they are just hallucinogenic effects of a dream.

The entity you are referring to has many names, Kanashibari (Japanese), Boba (Bangladesh), etc. etc. In the christian bible, they are called Fallen Angels, in Muslim Quran, they are called Jinn. etc.

But, we don't exactly know who or what they are, but we could only guess that they could be spirits, possibly not of human origin.

By the way, could you give us the history of the house?

Alex, your experience is similar to mine. This occurred to me more than a dozen of times. In these dreams, I could see my room, and sometimes walk around (thinking that I was awake, only to realize later that I wasn't).

In one nightmares, I also felt a cold spot beside my bed and couldn't move, then suddenly, someone shakes my bed, pulled me away from the bed, and into the door but was unable to do so. I was just thinking what could have happened if I followed that faceless thing, who, I think was a girl.

Let's just say, I was fortunate. However, a neighbor of ours wasn't. He died of a nightmare just last year, right after eating before going to sleep. I too, was full, when that sleep paralysis occurred to me.

So, what did I do that lead me to nightmares.

I sleep late in the morning, around (3-7a.m.).
I am always stressed.
I eat before going to bed.

These things seems to have contributed a lot to my frequent nightmares. Have you done these things too?

As for entities, I also experienced them, in fact, I had seen one of them when I was wide awake. It copied the face of my grandmother. So I believe that they are 100% fact.

Anonymous said...

I think they find you attractive.

No kidding, entities are attracted to some individuals. But what attracts them to you is a mystery to us. Maybe, your ability to see them, or your ability to feel their presence is a 'trait of an agent' that they wish to use.

On top of that, if you're a beginner, these entities may play a joke on you.

However, you did say that they emanate fear. That makes them a malevolent spirit but we wonder why you haven't mention of a misfortune that mysteriously occurred in your house. Are there any?

Stephen: I like what you said about the possibility of it being a Djinn (I know there are various ways of spellng it, and different names) It seems plausable from what I've read as Djinn can change shape, and appear however thay want. The only argument to that I would put forward was the feeling of coldness. Djinn are entities pertaining to fire, so I'd assume that I'd have felt heat rather than an absence of it.

AL2Fenrir: The dreams when they took place are usually either 1 of 2 locations... either Number 13, or where I am at the time. But they always seem to be dreams based upon realism, meaning that it's almost like I'm awake and it's a normal day, nothing surreal that would mark it out as a dream. And then once I meet the entity, it's usually in the guise of someone close to me, until it smiles at me, but it's not a happy smile, it's what i'd describe as a 'deaths-head smile' and when it touches me I wake up in my bed, parilysed and I ca both see and feel it's shadow over me. As the last time it happened, I had my back to the window, and usually there's traces of light coming in, whereas I couldn't see any light in the room except from under the door at the foot of the bed. Then when the presence left, the room was lighter as the light from the window made the room more visable.
And when I went to sleep, it was no different from any other time, ie, I'd been working night shifts the last time it happened so I was sleeping during the day an getting up afternoon/evening. I would normally have something to eat before bed. There never seems to be anything specific that seems to cause it.

Jen: I've heard of entities attaching themselves to objects and sometimes people. I still see the Shadowman from time to time and sometimes feel his presence (it feels like a 'he' anyway) so I think he's kinda attached himself to me. But the other entity, I only ever feel/see a few times each year. Wether it's around me more often, but ony gets close when it wants something, I don't know. But I know that Number 13 was built sometime around 1800. Alot of the houses in the villiage were built from the stones of the castle the villiage used to have, (which there's nothing left of anymore) and number 13 was one of them. I no longer live in that villiage anymore, but I'e asked my parents who still live in the villiage (but not Number 13) to look into the history of the house, to see if thay can find anything. But the landlady (who we rented Number 13 from) moved in after we left. And she, as far as I know (She told us about 6 months after moving in) that she's seen nor heard anything odd there.

But we moved to a flat, the other side of the methodist church, which was built in 1842 (the flat/building, not the church) and used to be a tailors. And when we moved there the hauntings seemed to follow. My mother feels that her father haunts her after he died in '97. And they moved again elsewhere in the villiage so tome newer bungalow's (as they're getting older now an having difficulty with stairs) and the haunting seem to have followed them, and increased. Lights turning on, things moving, and a Shadowman moving around. I've asked my mum to write an account of what's happened since leaving Number 13, so hopefully it'll be posted on here soon!

I remember that house well, I had similar experiences to yourself.
I don't remember many times where I was genuinely scared by the experiences, more uncomfortable at times.
The second attic room and the corridor leading to the back door were the only places I experienced fear, they were always the coldest places in the house I recall.
The shadowman never really frightend me, it was just a bit strange because everytime I saw him, he always seemed to be staring right at me, like he was interested in me in some way.
Even now I still experience strange shadows which almost seem to e following me, although nothing quite like at number 13.
By the way, I'm Alex's brother, just to clear up any confusion.

We suspect that the hot and cold temp. it emanates may be related to its aura.

We suspect that Jinns were base on real astral entities, but only the demonic ones were given attention and given the name -Jinn or Djinn (Genie).

By any chance, did your family come from a lineage of shamans?

Anonymous said...

Have you tried communicating with them?

Stephen: The aura that the entity eminated was definately cold, dank and with a sense of dread.

Psychic Johnny: My mum is somewhat sensitive to various things. She pre-empts things before that happen (sometimes days, sometimes moments) Such as knowing when her daughter (who didn't live with us at the time, who is also sensitive and has seen what a medium told her was my twin sister) fell pregnant. She's also seen the cat that haunted number 13, and other various things.

Derek: When the entity approaches me in my dreams I'm not really able to make contact with it there as when it comes close my only reaction is to get away from it. (Which is not really possible since it's a dream) And once I'm awake, I can't talk or move until it's gone, so am unable to make contact. As for making contact with the Shadowman, he doesn't bother me. Most of the time he just stands watching over me, and the times he's moving about, but i've no reason to believe he has any malicious intent. Though should I get a proper chance to make contact, now that I'm old enough to understand things better, I will.

You did mention two similar practices that both lead us into having a nightmare.

Sleeping in an unusual time.
And sleeping after eating.

I believe both of these contributed to lucid dreaming. Nightmares don't just occur at night, it may also occur at daytime. There could be a scientific explanation to this. In fact, there is a medication that prevents stuff like this, however, from what I've heard, even the medication does not guarantee a nightmare-free sleep.

As for the entity, almost all of you in your household have experienced the paranormal, so I won't say that it's a normal thing.

In either way, normal or not, I believe that the other world is always connected to our world. So what occurs in the world may have an impact to the physical world. This theory is under Quantum Physics and I believe in it though there is no concrete or actual evidence to prove it. But what the heck, how would science of the physical be able to obtain an evidence of the metaphysical?

Anonymous said...

Correction: what occurs in the 'other' world may have an impact to the physical world.

Anonymous said...

Contacting them may or may not be a good idea. Note that some of these things feed on your energy, if you're weak, you'll only get dragged into their world. And also note that whatever they may offer always have a cost.

And if ever you come into terms, also note there will be a commitment, and if you disappoint them, they may give a serious repercussion.

I advice you to contact a medium or an agent, instead of contacting them directly.

That would be most prudent.

These things aren't humans. Talking to them is not like talking to an ordinary human being.

And I doubt, you'll be able to have an effective communication. There's no medium. Will you be able to hear their voice?

Al2Fenrir: The odd thing is, like I mentioned. the last time the entity interfered with my dreams I was working nights and sleeping during the day. But the other times it's interfered, I've had regularly normal hours. And once out of the last year that I ate beofre sleep 'IT' came to me. wheras the other time that year 'IT' came to me, I was at a friends house back in the same village as number 13, I hadn't eaten, I was keeping normal hours and was relaxed. And that was the time I heard voices. I heard my friends voice screaming about a fire upon waking. And it wasn't until 'IT' left that the screaming seemed to stop. The screaming seemed to be coming from right next to me, and also in my head. It was a very unique and disturbing experience.

And every member of my family experienced something at Number 13, and has done since. Though my parents have had experiences before then, me and my 2 brothers had our first exeriences in that house.

Tetragammaton: I've been to a few different 'mediums' the first one, a friend of mine had a personal reading and sh swore by this medium. I found her to be fake, as she cold read me, and nothing she said was close, and nothing she 'predicted' came to pass, I payed for her services and I personally think she was a fraud. A friend of mine introduced me to a friend of theirs who seemed to have psychic insight. She told them things about their son that thay hadn't told anyone and seemed to be remarkably accurate. But for me, she said that I had quite a strong aura, and had some of my mothers psychic abilities. Which semmed a fair comment, but appart from that nothing else she said seemed too close to the mark. But she did my reading for me simply because there was something about me that intreagued her to do a reading for me. She only seemes to do them for select people.

I think the problem is finding the right person. It's hard to know who's acting at being 'psychic' and who genuinely had the gift, as alot of people you have to pay for their time. My older (half) sister who saw my twin sister, sought a medium. But she lived elsewhere to me and I've not spoken to her in a few years over a family feud (between my mum and her 3 children)
So I wouldn't know where to honestly start looking for a medium.

Jen: As for direct contact with this entity, I trust my initial reaction to get away from it. Nothing that gives the cold, dark feeling of dread can be anything good. And unlike the shadowman, I've never had a feeling of gender, which is what leads me to believe it's inhuman. And would be very cautious about communicating with it.

Anonymous said...

Always take note that fake mediums usually charges. The more expensive, the faker it is.

You should also note of a few things.

A strong aura means a stronger protection, this does not, however, offer total immunity. Demons will find ways to trample your faith and influence you through a dozen of ways.

Every individual has a spiritual gift but most of us simply hasn't tap it yet. You have been into a haunted environment, and this sort of trains your abilities. Note that the more you believe in such things, the more aware you become of the spiritual world, and the closer it gets you to it. In contrast, the more likely you'll be able to see spirits.

As for communication, shamans uses psychic devices (stones) to communicate with them. Seance uses people as mediums (getting possess). An agent without a psychic device only relies on their psychic abilities, which is in a form of intuition, and that is not 100% accurate. Note that not all intuition are true. Shamans are the most reliable informants but very rare and tough to find. They are usually living in places where nature is abundant. Thus, you will seldom find them if you're in a city.

Also note that if you could see spirits, they also know it. This also makes you act like a magnet for spirits. They seem to like gifted people. The reason - unknown! But usually, it's because they could use you as a medium for the physical world, just like the shamans.

If these entities don't interfere with your normal life, there is nothing to worry about.

Hope this helps..

I know all fake mediums charge, but I know some that charge DO sometimes have psychic abilities. It's hard to tell as if they charge, I'd usually dismiss them. At the moment I live in the city centre of Manchester (UK) and I wouldn't know the first place to look (with it being a city) to find a true shamen, or medium.

I trust my intuition, for the most part, as intuition is latent animal instincts that still linger from our evolution. You see it in animals, where they can sense things that most people do not. Which is why I trust my instincts. Which is why when my intuition tell me that the entity interfering with my dreams isn't engendered, it suggests something that is genderless. And when my instincts tell me to get away from the entity, I trust them.

And like I said it only seems to happen a few times a year with this dark entity. But it's been happening since I was about 8-9, and I just want to know why it keeps coming back, why me, and what it wants. None of the other encounters I've had have felt like this entity, an so they don't bother me or interfere with my day to day living.

On the day before my birthday, (before I saw the floating dogs head) I was with some friends who were practicing Wiccans, and after casting a circle, we used a Ouija board. I was a little apprehensive knowing that the entity might make contact. It didn't. But we contacted a spirit of my twin sister, of whom my older half sister had already seen. So I was relieved!

Anonymous said...

Oh Wicca.. I see. It's a pagan religion isn't it?

They practice crafts, casting spells and conducting rituals. I've heard a lot about them.

And let me guess, the circle is for protection, right? But from what I've heard, Ouija boards is not very effective. Sometimes, you summon other spirits instead of the one that you desired.

On top of that, you can summon spirits even without a Ouija board. Why use it?

Jen
Psionist Group

Anonymous said...

Yes, Wicca is a pagan religion, which has been around longer than other religions such as christianity. It's basically a faith centering around nature.

Castinf a circle is for protection. And an Ouija board is one of many ways to talk to spirits. It's not about summoning any particular spirit, it's just seeing if there are any spirits present who may want to make contact.

I wasn't looking to contact any spirit in particular, and was somewhat sceptical. I just hoped that we wouldn't contact 'IT'. But we didn't. If a spirit wanted to make contact, then I'm not going to deny them the opportunity just because I might not have known them. If someone that I wanted to contact wasn't there but another spirit was, then as long as the spirit isn't malevolant, then I'm happy to communicate with them.

Anonymous said...

Jen. think it goes to show how little you know about Wicca.

1) yes it is a pagan religion
2) yes Wiccas do perform some spells, but the main focus of the religion is celebrating the changes of the seasons and the cycle of life. Magic actually plays a very small part of Wicca and if fact I know many Wiccas that don't cast spells at all.
3) The circle is for containment of the energy raised during ritual and protection from outside distubances.
4) Ouija Boards are ineffective... In fact many of my friends refer to them being like using a cell phone in deep space. Ouija Boards actually have no use in Wicca because Wiccans believe that once a soul has passed out of the physical realm then that is where they should remain until they are reincarnated and they should never be disturbed or brought back to the physical plane unless they contact you first.

Anonymous said...

I had been in a wiccan site and forum once. I forgot the url. But I was acting crazy back then, who wouldn't? I had just seen a doppelganger who copied the face of my grandma, and it lead me to shoot out many theories, that I thought would explain it.

Just a question, when I was excommunicated from christianity and started to believe that God is in nature, that was when I first saw a spirit. Does my being a nature-bound persona have something to do with it? (the paranormal incident) or was it just coincidence?

The guys at wicca told me to communicate with it, but I refused to communicate, fearing that the act would cost me my soul. In christianity, contacting a spirit or inquiring help from an outside source (other than God) is a great sin. I hold the faith despite my change in beliefs.

Moreover, the haunting became even more stronger. It was followed by seeing a dark shadow just outside my window, which I thought was a robber, when I checked, no one's outside. Since then, I was haunted by nightmares, most of them were regarding my dead grandfather.

My grandmother had brothers who were shamans. Does it had something to do with my accidental paranormal encounters?

Anonymous said...

It may look like the spirits wanted to communicate with you. It's not like you were force to cooperate with them.

You have the right to refuse them, if you don't want to take that task. Tell them that you don't want to. How? You do know how to pray, right? It's similar to that. Concentrate, channel your thoughts toward them. Note that this does not mean that you're worshiping them, unless of course, you start glorifying them. Finally, erase them from your mind. Why? They will use your thoughts as anchor to this world, without it, they will have a hard time contacting our plane, unless they could find another means.

Shamanism is not in the blood. It must be learned. The gifts may be acquired but not shamanism.

Oh I see.. so that's wicca..

By the way, I don't mean to say summon but sometimes, 'summon' is similar to contacting. We have one story that relates to ouija. See LINK

It's a story from Stacy Mccall, from Texas, USA. By the way, what did you guys do when you used ouija?

Jen

Jen: I've read the account that mentione about having contacted a spirit using a Ouija board.

When we did it, My friends cast a circle, and then we preceeded as one would with a Ouija board. We places our fingers on the pointer, and asked if there was anyone wishing to communicate with us, when we got a 'yes', we asked who the message was for, we got my name (but with a few letters extra thrown in, as aparrently it can take a spirit a moment or so to focus), and asked who the message was from, and it spelled out the name Katie (which is the name my unborn twin sister aparrently used when contacting my half sister Vicki) Only I knew that, and I wasn't moving the pointer. I won't recount the message as it was meant for me. After Katie was done, we asked if there were any more spirits, but we got nothing more, so once we finished, my friends closed the circle they'd cast, and that was it.

Anonymous said...

Did you also properly close the ouija? A psychic friend of ours asks if you guys had properly close the ouija.

She told us that evil spirits may haunt the operator if it was improperly close. She also told us that evil spirits contacted through the Ouija board may try to win your confidence with lies. Finally, she told us something about progressive entrapment, which we believe to be the side effect of an ouija board.

As for seeing entities, we think that you may have the gift of clairvoyance, we also think that your brother have precognition. If psychic abilities is indeed a hereditary trait, then you may have inherited that ability from your mother.

The shadow figure you mentioned, base on your story seems to be a different entity than the one that causes you bad dreams. By the way, if we'd ask you back the question regarding the entity, who or what do you think caused you bad dreams?

Jen
Psionist Member

Anonymous said...

Jen: The Ouija board was properly closed. I can't remember what they did to close it, but I remember they did.

If it was an evil spirit, I didn't feel it's presence at all. And the casting of the circle was also to keep away bad spirits. So even if it wasn't my twin that contacted us, it wouldn't have been an evil spirit.

Well my mother seems to have both traits, so it's likely we've inherited similar gits. I know I get Deja Vu, and sometimes seem to have dreamed of things that haven't happened or places I've not yet been. Sometimes I even seem to say the exact same thing as someone else, in stereo. Even whan it's just a comment out of the blue.

I think the Shadowman, and the entity are 2 seperate things.

They weren't bad dreams. They were just realistic dreams, almost like it was a regular day, and then when the entity appears... for lack of a better comparison, it's like in Harry Potter when he meets the Dementors. The entity eminates fear. But a friend has been helping me try to find out what the entity is. And we've come to the conclusion that it's a Night Hag.

Anonymous said...

If you trust your intuition, then that's the more likely answer. Your gifts will progress with time if you practice them.

Night Hags are mythical creatures, its name varies with culture. Stephen had already mention one - Boba (the Bangladesh version of a Hag). However, it says that Hags sit on your chest. The spirits you claim did not. But, it's the closest entity you could connect to your experience.

By the way, GPrincess had released a journal on Ouija. See LINK. We were tempted to perform it, but some of us were hesitant. They say that they need time to prepare.

AL2Fenrir: Have you considered reading the Quran? I would highly recommend it. It gives answers to most questions out there regarding Jinns and Magic (how the two angels taught the Jinns in Babylon).

Alexander: Your point regarding Jinns beings of fire (smokeless fire the Quran says) and thus the coldness felt is not justified; Similarly Humans are made of 'Wet Clay' (According to the Quran) however we can be cold or warm. The temperature we emit doesn't necessarily have have to reflect the material we're created from. Moreover, The Quran calls it 'smokeless fire' and also suggests that like mankind, Jinns too will be questionable and will be thrown into the Hell Fire and thus will burn. So if the 'smokeless fire' creatures can be burnt in spite of them being created from fire itself, then we may not fully understand their appearance and or actual physical construction.
